MONTHLY MEETINGS - 2024 PROGRAMME OF EVENTS
Join us for yet another fun and varied programme throughout 2024. We have been working very hard to plan and book our events and speakers for 2024 and our programme is almost complete and shown below:
All meetings will commence at 8.00pm but please do not arrive before 7.30pm to allow your committee time to set up the room. Thank you.
Monday 15th January - Bhangracise
Bhangra music and dance is traced back to the region of Punjab and today it has been hailed as one of the world’s fastest growing dance and musical arts. A great chance to help with those New Year Resolutions!
Monday 19th February Andrew Kevan - Safety Online
Cyber Crime is now the number one crime type in the UK, continuing to increase year on year. Andrew, Cheshire Constabulary Cyber Protect and Prevent Officer, will give us some basic practical steps we can take that will help reduce us from a devastating cyber fraud, hacking or attack.
Monday 18th March Alice Walker - Mastermind Champion 2022
Alice, an expert quizzer from Derbyshire, became the oldest female BBC Mastermind champion when she triumphed in the show at the age of 66. She scored a perfect 14 out of 14 in her specialist subject, the Peak District, and won by six points in the grand final.
Monday 15th April - Charity Night
We will learn more about Lindow Moss our chosen charity for this year plus the Children’s Adventure Trust.
Lindow Moss: The Lindow Moss Landscape Partnership is a collective of like-minded partners, landowners and organisations that are committed to working together in order to conserve, restore and interpret the wider Lindow Moss landscape for the benefit of nature, the climate and people.
Children’s Adventure Trust: The Children’s Adventure Farm Trust is based at the beautiful Booth Bank Farm, a 17th Century farmhouse set in the heart of the Cheshire countryside. They provide a variety of free programmes for terminally ill, disabled and disadvantaged children from all over the North West.
Jarbola: A jarbola is run like a tombola but all the prizes are jars. Please bring a jar to our April meeting. This can be a shop bought jar with special ingredients or homemade jams or chutneys or preferably a jar that you have filled and decorated. Be creative with the contents and decoration.
Monday 20th May - Nicky Patterson Female Air Traffic Controller
Nicky picked up the travelling bug from a young age from her Dad who worked for BA. She has worked at Manchester Airport since 2008 where she says, there are so many different roles that all play a vital part in getting aircraft to and from their destinations which she finds fascinating. Working in the Control Tower, she feels part of a much bigger team.
Monday17th June Angela Oldman - The Perfume Lady
Enter the exclusive journey of fine fragrance and hear about the vast perfumery business and the art of creating a fragrance. Learn about perfume through the ages, from the Ancient Egyptians and how Cleopatra seduced Anthony, to the perfume Marie Antoinette wore to the gallows.
Monday 15th July - Mark Llewellin The History of Coronation Street
Mark, tour guide and speaker, will tell us all about the history of the popular ITV series Coronation Street which was first aired on 9 December 1960. The soap centres on a cobbled, terraced street in the fictional Weatherfield which has had more than its fair share of births, marriages, deaths, tragedies and disputes.

Monday 16th September The Reluctant Shepherdess - Rosie Lee
Although from a farming family Rosie originally worked for Barclays Bank before taking on Dairyhouse Farm, Winsford. She will have many funny anecdotes to tell us from the days when she started to develop the farm, before going to College to study Environmental and Conservation, followed by a degree course.
