SUMMER ACTIVITIES

JULY AND AUGUST
Wilmslow was chosen to compete in the National Britain in Bloom RHS competition for the first time this year. The town has been awarded a Silver Gilt medal in this National field and another Gold medal for the North West regional competition. Thank you to all who have helped in our Centenary Garden this year by gardening or yarnbombing. Both sets of judges were very complimentary about our efforts.
MAY AND JUNE
There was no letting up the pace in May and June. It began with 20 intrepid members flying down the longest zip wire. We saw a brilliant performance of West Side Story, had an IPad help session, our energetic members did a 13 mile cycle ride, listened to jazz, went to London to see the RA Summer Exhibition and Cherry Dolden thanked our members who have make over 60 syringe driver bags for our local hospice and hospital.

APRIL

Our regular Book, Craft, Theatre and Ten Bowling Groups are very popular and this month the bowlers tried their hand at darts, pool and Jenga. The WI garden looked resplendent in the Easter sunshine and we had a great day at the Harrogate Flower Show. Art group members saw a film about Rembrandt and we made fabulous fun animals from tea cakes!

OUR FIRST MEETING OF THE YEAR - JANUARY 2019
A superb first meeting of the year with Donna our new President. It was a  packed evening with the witty and charming John Stirling and his amazing wife. Grace gave a wonderful vote of thanks. We voted on this year's proposed resolutions, got up to date with all the news and activities  locally and county wide. The cakes were delicious!

And out came the sun...
A very damp day turned into bright sunshine for our first walk of the year around Lindow Common followed by tea and cake of course! Advantage of walking with locals is that you gain lots of knowledge about the area. Fascinating!
